Lexember 31 (2025)

I’ll drink to that! Today’s ConWorkShop theme is A toast to… Among my people, temperance is a strong and proud tradition. It is the custom never to drink alcohol, except on the occasion of a great celebration. And it is always an occasion of a great celebration when you have some alcohol. This is probably the reason why liquor cabinets are not a traditional piece of furniture in the homes of my people. Be that as it may, today is the last day of Lexember, so it would be perfectly appropriate to drink a farewell cup. Keep on langin’ till we meet again!

To drink a formal toast in Harunese manner: The symposiarch (pohohase) makes sure everyone has her cup full, one of the symposiasts raises her cup and proposes the toast, the others raise their cups, respond with poho’ and everyone drinks up. Unless of course you yourself are being toasted. In such case, just leave your cup alone and look honoured.
