Now here’s a real wake-up call. Today’s ConWorkShop theme is verbs and nouns that can wake you up. A ‘kick up the arse’ is usually employed to wake up somebody who is asleep on her feet, but it would definitely fall within the parametres of the prompt. ‘Cold feet’ can wake you up when placed on your body, especially if you are lying under a nice warm blanket. Still, I chose ‘siren’ as the word for the day. It is derived from the verb nivita ‘scream’, so it is literally a ‘screaming thing’.
