Stone the crows, mate! Today’s bonzer theme from ConWorkShop is things found in Australia. It’s fair dinkum, so won’t you come waltzing Matilda with me as we look for a billabong of words. Now there are a good many things found in Australia, many of which can also be found elsewhere, as any Bruce or Sheila can tell you. Apparently one peculiarly Australian word is pome, meaning ‘person from the UK’. I’m told pome is an abbreviation of pommie bastard. So there’s my Rireinutire word for the day then. She’ll be jake.
