Most of what I do with language has to deal with Rireinutire, the main and since Unification some five hundred years ago the only language on Rireinu. In other words, Rireinutire is a conlang or constructed language, made up out of whole cloth by yours truly.
Now conlangs may be categorised and classified by several criteria (too numerous to mention), but one useful classification is the dichotomy of a priori vs. a posteriori.
To begin at the end, a posteriori languages are essentially based on some actual natural language or language family, living, dead, or reconstructed, such as for example a new Romance language.
A priori languages, then, are not so obviously based on any specific extant languages; rather, they stand alone, either as language isolates or members of equally fictional language families.
As a language spoken on a planet (or more than one actually) in a spiral arm of the Milky Way Galaxy different from that of Earth, that wretched hive of scum and villainy, it is inevitable that Rireinutire should be a priori, which also means most of it is e posteriori.
